Scotland tour at its best
Glen Etive Highland Tour

Galloway Country Cottage in Tynron is a self-catering cottage in a great area for walking. It is surrounded by small roads with little traffic, and many footpaths - try walking up Tynron Doon for amazing views of the Lowther Hills and beyond, or over to Moniaive village; for a cup of tea (or a pint).

Fisherfield Walking Tour

Fisherfield Mountains

In 2012, friends at Glentrek are offering a fantastic package to visit Scotland's most remote mountains. The Fisherfield area near Ullapool has six of Scotland's most sought after Munros and we are offering the chance for you to "bag" them all in a single guided trip. This is an extremely strenuous 3 day walking trip with remote camping therefore we will incorporate a mountain training day 3 or 4 weeks prior to the expedition. Departing from the Dundee area all you need to bring is a high level of fitness, full hillwalking gear and a sleeping bag.

Price includes : One night B/B in hotel; Two nights high level camping; One mountain training day with Mountain Leader; Guiding with Mountain Leader; Expedition rucksack, camping equipment and camping rations

Dates: Fri 29th - Mon 2nd July 2012 inclusive. Price £375. Contact Iain for further details on this experience or on how to combine this with a Serenity Scotland private tour.

Jock Shaw - raconteur and whisky kenner

Scotch Whisky in the Netherlands

My friend and whisky expert Jock Shaw has a whisky blog . Jock's blog is mostly in Dutch but he is a great raconteur in both Dutch and English and I recommend Jock's site: Scotch and Folk , and his abilities as an entertaining and informative tour guide. Jock can be booked for whisky tours of Scotland by contacting me at Serenity Scotland. Jock has just introduced me to a fantastic grain whisky named Hedonism (by Compass Box) which is a vatting of Cameron Bridge and Cambus. Most of the grain whisky in it is over 20 years old and aged in first fill American oak casks. Vanilla and coconut and toffee dominate the flavours.

21Seven Recording - Edinburgh, Scotland

21Seven Recording

If you feel inspired and fancy a spot of recording while you are in Edinburgh I recommend my friend Andrea Meneghini's 21seven.co.uk recording studio. Andrea combines an open, affordable and personable approach, and will work on your behalf to perfection.

For fantastic wildlife cruises on the West Coast I recommend Craignish Cruises, based at Ardfern by Lochgilphead. Craignish Cruises have a new purpose built catamaran to take you to the Gulf of Corryvreckan, the world’s 3rd largest whirlpool (towards which George Orwell rowed a boat and nearly killed himself in so doing). Craignish also sail the Sound of Jura, and the Firth of Lorn.
