Here is a highly enjoyable and successful custom made private tour designed for four people travelling to Speyside Scotland in September 2011:

Day One - pick up at 23 Mayfield in Edinburgh at 10:00 am and travel to Highland Perthshire, stop and view Loch Leven (famous for its' castle from which Mary Queen of Scots escaped, and for its unique strain of brown trout), via the world's tallest hedge to Glenshee (Glen of the Fairies) stop for lunch at the charming highland village of Braemar and travel over the high road of Lecht through Glenlivet to Speyside; stay at the delightful country house hotel that is: Dowans.

Day Two - visit Glenfiddich Distillery including the history and tour of the Distillery, overview of the whisky making process, tour of the traditional warehouses, snack lunch in Dufftown, tour The Balvenie Distillery at 2pm - three hours in-depth tour starting with a coffee and chat and including a visit to the working malt barns, floors and kilns, the cooperage. followed, most naturally, with nosing and tasting of 4 different varieties of Balvenie, from first-fill and refill casks. Overnight at again at the Dowans Hotel with the opportunity to dine at the: Mash Tun (locally sourced food and great whisky bar selection) in Aberlour.

Day Three - head from Speyside by Cromdale to the Drumochter Pass; a stop at the House of Bruar (a highland emporium), via the Queen's View of Loch Rannoch and the shoulder of the fairy hill of Schielhallion to Fortingall for possibly Europe's Oldest Tree; via resplendent Loch Tay, the Falls of Dochart and Loch Lomond (reknowned in Jacobite song) to stay at the conveniently situated, friendly and stylish boutique hotel bed and breakfast, 15 Glasgow.

Day Four: A Free Day to explore Glasgow including the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, catch A Play, A Pie and a Pint at Oran Mor, or if you are not 'distilleried-out', make your way to Auchentoshan Distillery in the former shipbuilding town of Clydebank; stay another night at the wonderful 15 Glasgow.

For more than six people, your whisky guide and raconteur will be Scotsman, Jock Shaw, twice whisky nosing and tasting champion of the Netherlands. Jock specialises in combining his extensive whisky knowledge with his own brand of 'cabaret' storytelling and musical entertainment. Jock can also do whisky masterclass tours for established groups of Speyside, Highland, Lowland, Islay and Campbeltown whisky (and whiskey) lovers.

Over the past seven years whisky experiences have been customised with for example: conference facilities, for a Swedish company (2004 and 2005); a tour in 2008 starting In Aberdeen and taking all the 'wee-est' roads to culminate (triumphantly) in Islay (doing some superb walking and fish eateries along the way); in 2009 and 2011, a return tour for three happy Canadians covering the distilleries of Islay and Seyside, Highland and Orkney (with little walking but a certain aplomb!) In 2011, other tours included a whisky and seafood tour of Islay and Speyside, and a whisky connoisseur tour of Speyside.
