Wild Scottish Swimming Sauna at Kingsbarns

Wild Scottish Sauna Kingsbarns

People on tours often ask us: ‘What do you do in the winter when there are less tours?’ The answer is various things. We try to encourage more people to travel in Scotland off-season. Our general research into places, lodgings, food options, activities and visits is a major winter job but is fun too. We do our marketing and planning for the year ahead (and sometimes for the next year too) The professional and insurance aspects of running the business have always to be attended too. Family visits are most important.

If all the above are being dealt with – inbetween the above – we eat, sleep, walk, play music, and if there is a wee bit more time… we go from an outdoor sauna for a swim in the raging North Sea!

The one in the video and photograph is nearby us. The Wild Scottish Sauna is a unique sauna and sea experience located in the dunes on Kingsbarns beach between Crail and St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. It’s a beautiful wooden sauna that offers stunning views of the North Sea.

It offers both private and social sauna sessions, allowing you to unwind and relax in the scenic Scottish landscape. Private sessions cost £100 for 55 minutes, while shared social sessions are £15 for an hour.

You can book your session online through their website https://wildscottishsauna.com/. There are basic amenities available, including a basic changing facility, a toilet nearby, and a bucket of water to clean your feet. However, there are no showers on-site.

Yesterday the sea was as wild as we have experienced and the undertow to be watched. Body surfing the waves was exhilerating and carried one into shore at breakneck pace (no necks broken.)
